This study aims to develop an animated cartoon-based multimedia application to support science learning in elementary schools, particularly on the topic of the human digestive system. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the Lee and Owens instructional design model. The product was tested using a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest format involving 18 fifth-grade students at SDN 1 Junrejo, Batu City. Data were collected through observations, expert validation questionnaires, and student response surveys. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-tests to measure learning effectiveness. The validation results showed that the developed multimedia application was highly feasible, with media expert validation reaching 97.33%, material expert validation 94.67%, and student responses 94.40%. The effectiveness test revealed a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes, where the average percentage of correct answers increased from 64.17% in the pretest to 84.72% in the posttest. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). These findings indicate that animated cartoon-based multimedia can enhance students’ motivation, engagement, and conceptual understanding in science learning at the elementary school level.
